KOSHER CRU
About

Every score.
Every note.
In full.

Kosher Cru is an independent wine panel. We score kosher wine and publish what we find — the panel average, every taster's individual score, and every note written in their own words.

The panel is a small group of experienced tasters, selected for the quality of their palates. They taste with labels showing. What they cannot see, until they commit their own score, is what anyone else on the panel gave the wine. That rule is enforced by the database itself, not the design of the page.

A wine scoring 94 where the panel ranged from 88 to 99 is a different wine from one where everyone landed on 94. We show both numbers because the spread is the story. You can read the palate whose taste most resembles yours and ignore the rest.

How scores are calculated

A wine's score is the plain average of the whole-number scores each panellist gave it. Nothing is weighted, adjusted, or corrected. A panellist who scores consistently lower than the others — that is their genuine opinion and it counts at full strength.

Because the published figure is an average of several whole numbers, it usually carries one decimal place: a wine scored 95, 94, and 93 by three tasters publishes as 94.0.

Independence

Producers and importers can suggest wines to the panel. There is no fee and no guarantee of review. The panel selects what it tastes. Every wine the panel scores is published, whatever the number.

Each panellist's declared interests are published alongside their note. No score is removed or revised because a producer objects to it.

The catalogue

Kosher Cru reviews kosher wine only. Every wine in the catalogue is kosher — there is nothing to filter for. Where a wine's mevushal status is known, we list it, because it is a practical question for caterers and event hosts.
